83' MM Cutlass fret buzz

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased a beautiful MM Cutlass I and when playing the upper frets the strings seem to come in contact with the last fret on the fretboard, making a buzzing sound that makes the note indecipherable. I raised the action and it fixed the problem, but now the strings over the pickup are nearly too taught to play. What can I do to fix this problem?

Yup, try some new strings, especially a lighter gauge.
