IF i was to swap two warwick necks (both 5 string, same bolt pattern etc) should I loosen the trussrod first, or would it be better to just unscrew them, swap them and then adjust truss if need be.

the big question is what period of time you plan to have with the necks not under string load. if you're talking a day or less, I'd be in-line with the off-n-swap recommendation.

if instead you're going to remove a neck, ship it to another location, and then install the neck on a different bass, I'd recommend loosening the trussrod first

all the best,

R
