Acoustic Bass End Pin Jacks

Sign in to disble this ad
When I have my bass plugged in, every once in a while there is a crackle. Obviously I have noticed that it only happens when the bass dips in the back and the cable hits my leg.
I can only assume I have an issue with the end pin jack.
Is there any repair to these or are they a "just replace it" kind of thing?
Also, where might one pick up something of this nature?? Hmm Hmm?

Are you sure it's not the cable?

StewMac sells end pin jacks. Here's one, but there are others:

But before I tried to replace it, I'd probably try to clean it with some contact cleaner. Don't go crazy with the cleaner, just a little will do it. And maybe you would want to remove the strings so you can wrap a rag around the jack on the inside, so the solvent doesn't drip inside the bass.

Hope this helps,

Ed
