Exclamation Acoustic bass HELP PLEASE

Does anyone have experience with Ibanez AE basses that have bridge pins?

I'm so angry with myself for buying this piece of crap! I should have just left it alone and played it how it was. Sounded great but I wanted to change to flats since its fretless.

I'm trying to change the strings on this new bass and I go to put the first one on only to find that the pin won't stay in no matter what I do! Is there some kind of secret to these?

Its like a one inch black pin. You stick the ball end of the string down into a hole in the bridge and stick the push the pin in on top of it. The pin has kind of a groove in one side that the string run throughs. It was really tough getting it to come out in the first place to replace the string that came stock but no matter how I put it back in it doesnt hold. Not even a little bit. Just slips right back out omg I'm about to bust this POS in to little pieces. I'm through with Ibanez

There's nothing wrong with your guitar. You've just not done it before or have been doing it incorrectly. All bridge pins work the same way. I think you may be unclear on how it works. Before you insert the ball end into the pin hole you should put a very slight bend (NOT a KINK!) in the last 1/2 inch. Insert the ball end to a depth just a little longer than the length of the pin. Insert the pin, being sure to align the slot in the pin with the string ... insert it all the way. Pull up on the string gently, and the ball end will slide up the pin slot and come to rest against the bridge plate. The pins need not be very tight, in fact should not be, as they only serve to create a wedge for the ball end. The illustrations below will help tremendously ...

The whole process is described and illustrated here:

thanks for the Frets.com link... loads of good stuff there... just consider the acoustic bass guitar to be a big acoustic guitar...
