Action dilemma

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I'm kind of having a dilemma about how high to set the action on my bass. I play finger style as well as with a pick (most often pretty passionately ) so I left it quite high but I'd like to learn how to slap as well.
Now if I set it too high, I won't be not getting the percussive sound when slapping, and if it's too low, I'll be having fret buzz when playing with pick...

Are there any tricks to get away with both playing styles without any buzz?

Thanks,
LP

Lots of DIY adjusting of the trussrod and string height. Only you can find the right feel to cover your styles. You even might wanna set the bass to a factory default setting and try to adjust your technique to suit the bass.

You can lower the action a bit, then play closer to the bridge when picking.
