Action for recording?

Sign in to disble this ad
Do you guys raise your action for recording? My action is not super low but when I dig in a bit and let the notes sustain I do get some fretbuzz.Live it does not matter so much but when I record I wish it was not there but if I raise the action my tone changes. The alternative is to lighten up on the attack but then the performance looses a little of the energy.

You've already answered your question.

Either you play lighter or you're stuck changing the tone of the bass with higher action.

Or you hire another bassist to play your parts on the recording. It's done all the time.

You are who you are...If there's a problem-you need to correct it for "live" or "studio"
Don't change it up.
You need to be consistant in both areas or your "feel" will suffer..
