Adjusting the pick up height...

Sign in to disble this ad
Is there a specific height that the pick up's need to be set at? I think I might need to adjust them, but I am not sure how to tell if I do or not. Can someone please assist me with this?

Thanks.

im not sure what the rest of the word does, but i tend to get the best punchiest/ballsiest sound when the pickups are as close to the strings as you can reasonably have it. without magnet contact to the strings or an extremely hott signal that nobody can work with..

youll find the sweet spot through experimenting.

You won't hurt anything by adjusting them. Try it, and see what happens. If you don't like the result, change it back.

Simple as that.

A good place to start is 1/8" from the bottom of the string to the top of the pickup with the string fretted at the last fret.

Thank you. I will start there then.

... But mine are sloped with the peaks being in the middle and the slopes being at the E and G strings. So you are saying I should level them both out and go from there, or are most pick up's usually set up sloped like this after the set up is complete?
