adjusting the truss rod on my fender

Sign in to disble this ad
Well i have a fender p bass and i wanna get the action nice and low right now its low on the first few frets and by the time it reaches fret twenty its about 3x as high. I have a gotoh 201 so i know that means i cant lower it super low, but i would like to get the strings level across the board and lower.

Its hard for me to tell what allen size, its just a 2003 MIM fender P bass , and i dont no what way to turn the allen, and at what rate to turn.

Sorry for the repetive question, i am not a noob at basses just never done an adjustment like this, and i did a search first

It's always hard to tell without looking, but it does sound like your neck has too much relief.

Adjust the truss rod clockwise about 1/4 turn at a time with a... I wanna say a 4 or 5mm allen key... depends on the bass.

edit: that's clockwise looking down at the bass with the head pointed at you and the body on the floor. On my Fender style basses it's a 5mm allen key.

I did what you said i used a 3/16 allen tho which fit best went slow to make sure i would not strip anything and the board is flat now and plays alot better. Its higher towards the last frets but i belive i just need to lower my saddles a bit, cool beans.
