Adjustment Wheel

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, i'm new here. My friend lent me his bass and i need to adjust it but instead of having that little hole where you put in that l shaped rod, theres just a black little wheel with holes in it at the high end of the fretboard, how do i adjust it?

Don't go adjusting the truss rod on your friend's bass. It's not your bass. If you don't like it, buy your own.

You need to insert a tool into one of the holes in the adjustment wheel and rotate the wheel to adjust the relief in the neck. The wheels is basically a nut threaded onto the end of the truss rod. If you tighten the wheel, it takes relief (forward bow) out of the neck. If you loosen the wheel, the strings forward tension pull more relief into the neck.

I have used an appropriately sized allen wrench when I don't have the proper tool.

Hey, don't blame me because you didn't explain yourself. You made it sound like you were borrowing it and adjusting it to suit your own tastes.
