Advice - Mounting a new bridge

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased a Gotoh 201 to replace the stock bridge on my Fender Aerodyne Classic Precision Bass Special. I was told it was a direct replacement and that no modifications were required but this is not the case. The holes do line up with the previous ones but the actual slot that stock bridge would fit in to is too small for the Gotoh 201. I am no wondering if I should cut through the lacquer and re-size the slot or should just find a thin piece of rubber to put between the bridge and the body? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
