Advice on a "splatter" finish

Sign in to disble this ad
How would I go about pulling off a finish in which it just looks like you've thrown a bunch of paint at the bass a la the infamous splato/splattercasters.

I have a white base coat, so do I just flick paint at it, then keep sanding it down? Followed by a clear coat?

Thanks a lot.

Flick? Yeah, ya could. I'd get a few sizes of eye-droppers and play with that technique, too. Different heights, angles, rates of drip, etc. Practice on some wood or cardboard to get comfortable with it first?

I've seen that technique done using toothbrushes to flick the paint from. You have to work closer to the work of course. You run your finger across the bristles and the paint comes flying off.

Practice first.
