Advise on Sleek bridge

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm building my own bass. This is my first thread so if I do something wrong, please be kind.

I'm designing a bass that is smaller in body size and want to have a very sleek look. I know you guys like big hardware, but this is for a woman so keep that in mind.

I've done a lot of searching, but can't seem to find the look I want. I want a string-through with a very small but good quality bridge or saddle. A single saddle is ok too.

Any advise is great appreciated.

Thanks
KC

If you want ultimate minimalism, you could consider hardware that isn't really designed to be a bridge saddle per se, just something that will screw into the top and serve as a saddle.

Hipshot makes some smooth looking bridge hardware though I'm not sure if it's the string through body type (plus you've probably already looked at Hipshot).

For non-massive but functional there's the early Precision bridge, which to me is cool in its simplicity:

Or maybe you could find a funky old short-scale bass at a pawnshop and swipe its bridge. I'll bet there are some old Teiscos or Kays out there that have a simple single blade type saddle.

Danelectro has some interesting looking hardware for basses, kind of offbeat:

If you scroll down they have simple rosewood blade type bridge.

I think that monorail bridges look very sleek.

Thanks

Wow! Thanks guys. I really like Greg Back's style. I have monorails on my Sukop and I like them. I just wanted something even sleeker. Backs is awesome. I'm probably going to have some built to suit now that I've seen something in line with what I want. I'll keep you posted if I come up with anything that looks good.
