Aerodyne Jazz Bass jack alterations

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,

I have one of the early Aerodyne Jazz basses, the ones with the jack on the side of the body like:

I've had a few problems in the past with the jack twisting and wires snapping / connections coming loose (once mid gig!). The later models look like they have their jack "in" the body of the bass:

Does anyone know if it's possible (or really worth while) changing the position on my jack from the former to the latter? My brain is telling me that it's not worth the hassle and I should really just secure my current setup but I thought I'd ask anyhow!

Thanks

Cos

The actual plug in the body spinning? I would think some Loctite would solve the problem.

You might install an inside toothed lock washer over the thread of the jack, reinstall into the jack hole, install flat washer/nut, and retighten.

They look like this

@MarkusBass

I've tried that once before and it didn't work very well, it was quite hard to get the super glue to stick everything together.

@Lon

That's a great idea, i'll give that a go, thanks!
