Affordable Service in NYC?

I live in Manhattan and need to have my modded J bass pickups swapped to stock. Bench labor here is $100/hr so I am looking at $75 to change the pups in a $300 MIM jazz bass.

Anyone know anyone that can do this for less than $75?

Buy a soldering iron, phillips screwdriver, etc., and do it yourself.

You get what you pay for, and a lot of it is expertise. Manhattan is HIGH overhead, everyone has to pay the piper...

Go with the soldering iron... practice a little and do it yourself. Take you an hour to learn and it´ll save you bucks 4ever..

I had him set up a guitar for me. He does good work (IMO) and the real selling point is that you can be there with him while he is doing the work, discussing your options and so on.

He's a real nice guy, and he's also a bass player.
