After-market Fender bodies/necks

I've been hunting around on eBay and elsewhere for a Jazz-bass body to go with my 2005 CIJ neck - and here comes the naive question - how standardized are Fender measurements? If I picked up a MIA body for example, would the measurements between that and my CIJ Jazz-bass neck be the same or would I just be gambling with the fit? I've also found a Jamerson made body that's supposedly Fender-licensed and cut to Fender standard measurements, but again..
I'm leary about buying online where I cant test the fit, I'm wondering if anyone here has had luck going that route.

"Fender licensed" should mean that it'll fit. I just bought a used Warmoth neck to replace one on a P that had a butchered truss rod nut (couldn't adjust the bow out it) and it fit right in. On their website, Warmoth says they are "Fender licensed" (they also list the dimension of the heel and so on).

Am I wrong in thinking all Fender bass neck pockets are the same?

Yes, if they are "Licensed by Fender", they will have the same dimensions. A few of the more common replacement part brands are Mighty Mite, Stew Mac, Allparts and Warmoth.

All Fender or Fender licenced necks should be interchangable with any Fender or Fender Licenced body with few exceptions: square heeled Tele type necks, 22 fret necks, etc.

Thanks guys!
I took the plunge - I just ordered one of these finished in amber-red-black Sunburst, alder wood.

Should look sweet with a black pickguard and Geddy Lee blocked neck...
