Aftermarket Bridge: Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass V

Finding information on this bass outside of the original manufacturer specs is next to impossible. Most likely because it's only been out for a few months at the most.

It appears to use the vintage pattern, 6 screws at the rear of the bridge.

Does anyone know of a good, high-mass direct replacement bridge?

When mine comes in 7 days I am ordering a Babicz high mass. It sits on 3 of my Fender's now. I love that bridge. My next one will be black as well as hipshot black tuners. Love it when the brown truck stops at my house. Yes children there is a Santa Clause and he is a Teamster. Lmao

Cool bridge, but it's not a direct replacement. Would require re-drilling

I'm in a similar situation with my Squier MB-5, it also has a 6-mounting screw pattern. The string spacing on mine is over a total of 2 5/8", looking for a properly fitting bridge for it is maddening.

I had acquired a leo quan badass V used in hoping it would fit, but the mounting screws(it had 6 as well) were to widely spaced, and the string spacing was at about 3", completely unusable on my bass.

My next move is to try a HiMass Vintage bridge that comes on the fender american standard line, I keep looking for one in store to get a measurement, but I have not come across one as of yet, it has a 4 bolt mounting pattern that looks to be the same as the inner 4 holes on the MB-5's bridge, and quite frankly, 4 would suffice.

Try this one. * WD Music Products - 5 STRING BASS BRIDGE CHROME

It's a WD 6-hole 18mm spaced bass bridge. I linked you to the chrome, but it's also available in black and gold.

I think that's your best possibility.

Best of luck,

Bob

After spending a good part of the night scouring the net to try to find a suitable replacement for my own, I stumbled across this thread.

Has anyone tried Bob's suggestion for their VM jazz V and picked this bridge up?

Thanks in advance,

-Bryan

Hey Bogster,

I actually took my own advice on this one. I bought one of those bridges (very well made) and the bottom plate is the same size, but only one string hole lined up (G string far end).

So, it's not a perfect fit, but I actually like it a lot. Much more solid feeling and a bit better sustain.

So, that said, I still haven't seen a bridge that is a perfect fit.

Good hunting!

Bob

Bob-

Awesome, thanks for the reply. I spent a lot of time looking around the last day or so and haven't found anything that wouldn't require at least a litte extra drilling. Might have to give this one a shot.

Thanks again!

I picked up the bridge you suggest in black. Very nice. And yeah, just one of the screw holes is off, but you really can't tell unless you're looking for it. Much more solid, well made bridge than the stock bridge. Thanks again for the advice, Bob!

What do you mean by only one string hole lined up? Does the strings not line up with the pickups or what? Could u post a picture?

Hi Jtapp,

What I meant was that the holes for mounting the bridge didn't line up with the holes in the body.

I ended up plugging five of the original holes in the bass body and drilling new holes to make the bridge fit.

I'm very happy with it now, but it wasn't a drop-in for me.

PM me if you still want a pic.

Bob

Well this is partially lined up, just not completely.

All the best,

Bob
