Errrrr.. So i was tuning my bass down and pop! the string guide flew right off the neck! I found it, but the screw that holds it in is gone. Pinged off somewhere in my room.. could be anywhere.... even mars. Problem started when i put some larger guage flatwounds on, apparently the string guide has two grooves in it that are only wide enough to accomodate the original strings. I figured it'd fray the silk wrappings but i never suspected the whole freaking thing would fly off! I can file larger grooves into the tree but if i can't find the right sized screw for it what are my options as far obtaining a new string guide?

Should have what you need. Also list a WTB classified. Somebody could very well have a used one languishing in a junk drawer.

Great, thank you so much. Hopefully i'll be able to get a replacement screw at HD, but if not i know where to go now.

You just need a wood screw; they're cheap at the hardware store. It sounds like you stripped out the whole, though, so you may need a slightly larger diameter screw.

Use a bigger/longer screw (not too long, though).

Yea i fixed it. Went to HD and got some screws. Turns out they were just a smidge too large for the tree so i used a brass screw that fit perfectly that i happend to have lying around. Unfortunatley that screw broke in half as i was screwing it down , being unable to get the one half out of the head i just filed it down and drilled another hole. A little bit of filing got the larger screws to fit and its all fixed now
