I was playing a show a couple nights ago, the band I was playing with was to play two sets, the first and the last.
In between these sets I left my bass up on stage sitting on a guitar stand. The band following mine was one of those multi-instrumentalist bands and they kept getting up and switching instruments with eachother. Im sure you can see where this is going, but all of a sudden someone yells over to me that my bass got knocked on ground and a string got broke. I run over looking to find all the strings flopping around, I look up and the headstock/first fret is like hanging off the rest of the neck..broken almost all the way through. The guy doing the sound for the show took a look and said the luthier at the shop he owns could fix it up.
It took almost all my nerves to not knock out the kid that kicked it over.. and my main question is once fixed, how different will it feel/sound/look/sustain.
I dont think I've been that close to tears in a long time.
Thanks again.
Rory

That's a BIG no no. Keep it in the case. That's a lesson learned. |

I'm sorry for you man. I'm sure you can contact DBG and they'll hook you up with a brand new neck.
Glad you've got a bolt-on now, eh?

| | | | You should post pictures of the damage.....I'm just curious how it broke. I can't see how a leaning fall could snap the head off my Thumb. Though obviously, I could be wrong. |

They're the people who sell Warwicks here in the U.S. As far as a new neck, I'm not sure but I do know that I've had great experiences with their customer service. I got a brand new nut for the broken one on my Corvette for free. Go to their website and contact one of their customer service guys via email and they should get back with you in a day or two.

Just get a new neck. I was quoted less than that but to be fair in case market conditions change I won't say exactly what it was. |

You can fix it, but it will never be the same IMO. Get a new neck and make the chump that knocked your bass over pay for it.

Bigwig, you did good holding your temper. It'll get fixed, and the folks at fault are handling it. Good outcome to a bad story, with lessons learned.
