Allen wrench size

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys, I have a Ibanez Prestige SR1005EFM and have lost the Allen wrench that it came with for making adjustments to the truss rod. Does anyone know what the size is for this item? It is somewhere between 4.5mm and 5mm. 4.5mm is too loose and 5mm is too big. If anyone has any idea it would be greatly appreciated.

There isn't a size between 4.5mm & 5mm and it seems doubtful that Ibanez used fractional sizing

IMO most import truss rods are use a 4MM hex drives and bridge height screws are 1.5mm

Maybe it's a 4 or 4.5 mm socket that is badly worn?

3/16 inch is between 4.5 and 5 mm--probably worth a try. I doubt Ibanez would use a fractional inch item, but it's possible.

I recently had a similar problem with my Mexican Fender Jazz.
I came to the conclusion that I may aswell buy a set of wrenches. Sets come in Metric (mm) or Imperial (inches). My fender is from over the pond (I'm in the UK) so as its American, I got an Imperial set. I'm not 100% on where Ibanez Basses are from, but if Metric sizes are not working, get some Imperial ones.

Peace.

SDGR's have a 4mm metric hex sizing, best to get yourself a really strong set of wrenches for these, we use Park Tool for some of our workshop gear, it's heavy duty as al hell....maybe because it's meant for bikes! But they never round out.

If your using an old hex wrench best to cut off a few mm so it's nice and sharp again...should make it fit a bit easier!

I have an idea. Someone wallowed out the 4mm hole using the incorrect size wrench.

If it was mine, I'd contact Ibanez for a new TR nut.
