Allparts 5-string necks?

Sign in to disble this ad
I did a search, but didn't find anything. Has anyone used one? I'd love to find more info on them (engineering drawings, info on the trussrod, etc), but Allparts doesn't really have anything online.

The neck seems very thick, so is it possible to thin it down? I've done that with Warmoth necks, but I just don't know enough about the Allparts. For all I know, the trussrod could be set low enough that taking .010" off the back is too much.

My idea is to build a G&L L2500-inspired bass with some modifications. I love my L2500s, but I don't want to modify them beyond the basic electronics. Would love to have a test-bed and the Allparts neck looks like a good place to start (along with a body I'll make out of Ash or maple).

Thanks.
