Allparts/Mighty Mite necks

Do they suck? Are they comparable to MIM/MIA/Warmoth/USACG necks? Are they somewhere in between any of those labels?

I've had a few of each, they are OK; comparable to MIM and many MIA Fenders I have tried. The fretted necks I tried had acceptable fretwork, a fretless Mighty Mite needed a a bit of board dressing but for the price I did not object. It played fine after the dressing. Like everywhere else, you get what you pay for.

I have a Mighty Mite jazz neck. Pretty decent quality.

I have/ had both myself.

MM is an OK product, sometimes rough fret work but solid & cheaper than Allparts.

Allparts is a higher quality product. Better fret work, nicer wood, more accurate as vintage specs go. I have heard they supply Fender Japan, don't know if that's true or not.

Kind of the Squier vs MIM/MIA thing.

Many of the Tele builders out there prefer Allparts to Warmoth & USACG

I've not had any experience with a Mighty Mite neck, but the guitar repairman I work with is personal friends with Mike Stevens, who co-founded the Fender Custom Shop with John Page and as a result is around alot of vintage Fender parts all the time, likes the Allparts necks even over Warmoth, USACG, and Mighty Mite. I do have a fretless Allparts p-bass neck that is amazing and I like it very much.

From what I've heard, this doesn't surprise me.

I should have mentioned before that my most recent neck purchase is an maple/maple P neck which is very, very nice.

Cool. I'm gonna have to get me an Allparts then. I was thinking Warmoth for a while, but they're just so heavy.

That was my repaiman friend's gripe. Allparts uses the vintage trussrods as opposed to Warmoth's "Super Bass" constructed necks which are very heavy. I still like Warmoth though, very good quality, but for vintage feel I'd go with Allparts.

Mity Mite is my choice for solid and economical. For the dough, they are extremely good! A little time and you have a very good neck.

Allparts... IME - blow hot and cold. I've had one that was a complete boat anchor. The fret work is OK but definately not on par with USACG or Warmoth.

The reason that many repair guys don't use Warmoth or USACG... Is money...

Quality wise, Warmoth and USACG are seriously way ahead.

If you wnat your Warmoth to feel vintage, buy USACG - or spec vintage fretwire and rolled fingerboard edges. Try getting it your way with Allparts...

Didn't really get it your way with Fender in the good ol' days either, hence the need for the Custom Shop :P

Either way, they are all viable and reliable choices, just depends on your own personal tastes.

warmoth necks have great big radius's too, which the allparts and mm don't, they feel really small by comparison (and that's a good thing)
