Aluminium pickguard issue

Hi, I just removed the gold anodized PG of my precision bass in order to repair the electronics. I was going to put it on again, but now if does not fit both at the neck and pickup . How can I fix this? maybe putting some heat into the PG?

Many thanks (and please excuse my bad English).

Try fitting it over the pickup first..then sliding it into the neck cut-out.

I already tried that, I ended damaging the finish of the end of the neck...

Leave the neck and PG loose and wiggle gently as you assemble. They'll fit, but locking either piece in place can cause trouble. If you have to relieve the PG slightly with a file where it touches the neck, do so...but gently.

Thanks, I finally managed to put it in. Instead attaching the PG horizontally, (top to down), I did it vertically, no issues this way. There is just an couple scratches on the neck finish from the first attempt.
