Thru body. Less likely to lose the ferrules that way.

Yep. That's the only reason why I string thru body.

mine's a '96, so it's through-only.

i'd still do it that way even if i had a choice; it probably doesn't really matter, but the ferrules make for a way more solid anchor than the three screws holding the bridge on, and i've convinced myself that the through-body (along with the low-mass bridge) adds a little more "wood" to the tone.
