Question American standard fender tuners on aftermarket neck

I have some American standard Fender tuners laying around and want to put them to use on an aftermarket neck. They look like this:

They have the two small studs that fit into the back side of the headstock and I think if I can drill small enough holes they should be able to fit. I do not know the hole measurements at this time as I am posting this from work, I will be sure to measure them tomorrow to see what diameter they are. Anyone had any experience w/ this?

Do the math first and double check your work. Use a vernier caliper to measure the tuner pins, etc. put masking tape on the head to mark lines on. Use a combination square to mark a center line for holes on the head so they line up straight with the edge of the head. Measure twice, use an awl to pre-punch the center of each hole. Put masking tape on drill bit to mark drill depth.
