Another Gibson 3-point bridge question..

Sign in to disble this ad
I've already read several threads here and elsewhere regarding how to set up the 3-point bridge, but putting everything to practice seems to be a different story. Here is my version of this adventure:

I'm trying to set up the bridge on my '96 Thunderbird. Please, no "take bridge off and replace with BAII!!!" responses please

1.) I can't get rid of what I believe is nut/saddle buzzing. Initially I thought it was the first few frets, but I've eliminated that possibility, as the neck has almost perfect relief. The nut isn't perfect, but I don't know if the buzzing is coming from there or the saddle.

2.) I've repeatedly raised and lowered the bridge, and I'm hesistant to do so again, as I'm worried about wearing out the threads, and pulling out the dowels.

3.) What kind of oil is suitable for oiling the dowels/posts? They feel extremely tight.

If anyone can offer their experience (again), that would be much appreciated. Thanks!
