Another Light Weight Tuner Question. (Fender content)

I apologize if this has been covered before, but after several searches, I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I have a 1996 MIA Fender P. Love the tone, but it is somewhat neck heavy. It has those larger Schaller clam shell style tuners with the F logo.

My question; is there a light weight tuner that is a direct drop-in for these? I'd prefer not to have to drill holes.

not a direct drop-in, no.

the fender "boron" lightweight keys pretty much cover the old holes, just requiring a little drilling for the new tabs that go into the back of the neck.

they work great on my '96 P bass, which is nice and lightweight, and would be neck-heavy with the stock boat-anchor keys.

the thing with these is to run a bit of loctite into the little tensioning screw that holds the knob in place. otherwise, that little screw (and its impossible to replace surrounding bushing) come unscrewed and fall out.

Thanks for the info.
I may end up taking it to a shop to have this done.

I have a set of each type of the Fender American Standard tuners if you're interested...the pre-2008 version made by Schaller and the 2008 and later version made by Hipshot, which is considerably lighter and I think would be as close to direct replacement as you will find.

Mine came off of Fenders that were modded and these have just been laying around, both sets are like new. PM me if you want to discuss.
