Another potentially stupid question

Will a P Bass bridge cover fit over a Jazz bass bridge? Specifically on a Classic Vibe Jazz Bass' stock bridge.

The bridge for a Precision is the same as the bridge for a Jazz. So the answer to your question is yes, it will fit. They both use the same bridge cover.

I respectfully disagree -

scroll about halfway down and you'll see the differences.

While both will fit both basses, they are not the same size.

The original question was whether a bridge cover for a Precision would fit on a Jazz... and I stand by my answer which is yes. Fender made several different shapes of bridge covers and the bottom line is they are interchangeable. Perhaps from an historic point of view one shape should be on a particular model... but... a bridge cover for a 4-string Precision will fit a 4-string Jazz. Period.

I didn't disagree with your statement that they would fit - in fact I said "...both will fit both basses." I disagreed with your statement saying that they both use the same bridge cover. If that were true, the OP wouldn't be asking the question. Period.

The Classic Vibe bridge is bigger than the standard Fender bridge, which is probably why he asked the question.

The Classic Vibe P bass and the J bass have the same bridge, and the P bass comes with a cover. So I would imagine it would work just fine.
