| For what it's worth, I was working on a Spector bass that was pretty neck-heavy while sitting with it. I put on a strap and stood up and was surprised at how balanced it was.
The bridge-side strap button on this bass wasn't in the usual "body-centerline" position, but rather was located a few inches UP from center.. This seemed to offset the neck heaviness, and in my eyes was a good example of efficient engineering...
There are other less-intrusive ways of balancing out a "diver"..
Some speak of adding weights to the bridge side on the bass, strap, etc..
Relocating the strap button will require a new hole to be drilled, leaving the old hole exposed. I'd probably just install a cool stainless screw in the old hole cause it's better to have a balanced bass..
