Hi,
I have an '08 Warwick Corvette Double Buck 4 string. It sounds great but for some reason it does not seem like a very fast bass. Like, my right hand def goes quicker on a Fender Amer P Bass or this Schector Elite I tried in Guitar Center.
I do get this bass set up at a pretty good shop in NYC. The action seems low, and the nut seems up, like, I don't really think they would be able to get the action like, real low so I will play faster. I do have am attacky right/playing hand and I also like heavier strings - perhaps if I try light strings they can get the action super low for me the next time I bring it in for a setup?
I figure I would give it one more go in the shop before I decide it may be time to depart with it for a faster playing bass. |

I just got a Fender Amer Standard P Bass Tri Color and its in the shop getting setup for C# standard to be used in the rock band I ma playing in. That neck feels good and I play quicker on the Fender tuned to E than I do on the Warwick tuned to E. |

| Threaten it.
Ba-da-Boom.
OK, for real then, I'd suggest lowering the action/strings, you MAY have to re-file the nut afterward but I think that would be drastic. I have heard of chunky necks on Warwick $$ Corvettes but mine doesn't feel that way. It's really easy to get around on it. Maybe because mine was made in Germany? I don't know, just throwing that out there. |

| | | | Lower action & lighter strings (I don't use W strings on my Wicks btw because I feel they're slowing me down; try Elixir or any other coated type of strings and see if it helps). Other than that...sell the bass and get one of the new Vettes, they've changed the neck profile and the difference is significant (in a good way).

as for playing faster i can tell you that my wick has a realy weird chunky (but not P bass chunky) neck that i have yet to encounter in any other bass and it did give me trouble the first 3-4 months but now speed is not an isue
just give it some time and if you cant get used on the neck flip it and buy one of the newer models
btw i use 105 high beams on it with no problem and for what its worth after i got used to the neck profile i can play faster on the wick than my jazz |

Elixir mediums
Set the action way low
Smoothed the back of the neck with a Scotch-Bright Ultra fine pad
Now it's super fast, corners like a brick and stops on a dime.

The first month I hated it, I put it up for sale, then I tried new strings and now love it. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
