anyone know the difference between these 2 pickgaurds?
big difference in price on Fenders site but the same price pretty much on ebay so I ordered the more expensive one on ebay.
are they different design? on ebay when looking up the part numbers and actually looking at the pickgaurds they look the same.
They appear to be identical, the second one is just missing the "Truss rod notch" label, but it clearly has it.
If I had to guess, someone at Fender just made a data entry error, or whatever system they use to populate their site imported duplicate information.
It's pretty common.
They appear to me to be slightly different color.
they have both on ebay the cheaper one is in the new packing here they are by part number on ebay so you can look at them more close
Oh, I didn't see that you could find the part number on the Fender page.
All I saw initially was the one Model number listed on both pages, 0992170. That's why I was assuming it was a duplicate, or an error. You are correct though, different part numbers for sure.
Looks like you are not the first one to ask this:
Seems like no one knew then either.
Amazon has both:
Colors look different there too, but only slightly. Their photo for 0992 does not have a notch, but the reviews on it clearly state it does (some people complain in their reviews specifically because it does have a notch, and the photo does not.) 007 guard has 0 reviews and seems newer. 0992 has several reviews.
Only major difference I could find was this:
0992 - Date first available at Amazon.com: June 8, 2005
0074 - Date first available at Amazon.com: November 11, 2010
I searched too but I think I searched tortoise.....yeah he had no answer and that was a year ago! I just got a select jazz and I hate white gaurds so on ebay I ordered the one thats more expensive on ebays site.
Makes sense, tbh based on that info from Amazon it looks like the 0992 model is the "old" model and the 0074 model is the "new" model.
There's probably little to no functional differences.
the 0074 looks like the old packing though.
