Anyone know if a StingRay neck will fit on a Jazz Bass body?

Title says most of it !

Leaving aside the fact that later StingRays have a truss rod "wheel" at the heel of the neck (mine doesn't ), can anyone tell me, from experience, how good a fit (or not ) would a 4-string, 21 fret StingRay neck be on a (4 bolt) Jazz Bass body?

As for the mounting holes, they certainly won't line up, as the neck is from a 6-bolt EBMM, so I know that I'll have to drill some more holes somewhere.

I'm assuming that by mounting the bridge a little further up the body (if required ?), I can get around the intonation problem, but I don't know how deep/wide the JB neck pocket is compared to the SR neck .

Pretty obviously, I'm thinking of doing this because I already have most of the parts (except for the JB body), otherwise, I'd just buy the right neck and have done with it .

So, what do you think?

The neck shape at the heel is different on the 2 basses. It won't work.

No, the bridge will have to moved forward so you can intonate the bass. In turn, the pickups will be closer to the bridge making the bass sound extremely different.

Thanks for those observations guys .

I think I'll just sit on the neck for now (metaphorically ), until a better use for it comes along.
