I've seen Sims in England do it, in gold, chrome, colors..

anyone in the states (that's really good) offering a mirror-like finish similar to the Warwick Chrome finish?

I've got a custom bolt on I'd like to
"chrome" out!..

Besides Warwick, I've never seen it, except Simms website, but I'm not too keen in sending this to the UK..
they said I could remove the neck first if I wanted but I'd like to see if anybody in the US does it, Wilkins does wild stuff I know, but nothing like that on his site

There are paints that mimic chrome so well you can't tell the difference. I've used one of them on some plastic parts and it's a real PITA to get a true chrome like finished product, but once you figure it out it works just fine.

The one I used required a black base coat and only worked if you built up many, many ultra thin coats of the chrome paint. It was also bloody expensive. Five years ago I got a 1 oz bottle of chrome paint and another 1 oz bottle of black base and it was right at $20.00

Here's the brand I used...

A guy named Tony Jarrett may be able to help, but I can't say that with any certainty.
He has a business called Masked Expressions, custom painting goalie masks (he's painted one of mine) & racing helmets.

He does chrome work, like this http://maskedexpressions.com/images/pelletier_j.jpg

wow, that is cool.

all i know is, ibanez attempted this with some joe satriani models, and they couldn't get it to be durable enough to warranty. (and if there's one thing mid-price import factories can do, it's make bulletproof glass-smooth poly finishes! i'd bet ibanez has machines that could put a thick gloss finish on a cheeseburger.)

Google Spectra Chrome and find a dealer. Cool YouTube bids on this product. They even sprayed a motorcycle seat with it. It's crazy!

Edit: Here's the distributor website and the motorcycle seat. You need to find someone who can do it for you. They even chromed a piece of pizza, no joking. http://www.sprayonchrome.com/superadhesion4.html

I know Chris Wolstenholme, of Muse fame, has a couple of chrome Fender basses. I'm not sure how to go about getting one of those, but they sure are cooooool.

There was a company in Germany that made "metallic inks" for a very long time. I believe the company is Ekhert (or Ekhart). They have a patented method of reducing aluminum to 2 microns (that is smaller than a human blood cell and is actually more of a "smoke particulate" than a particle of aluminum. They have made some of the most unusual paints and finishes (and inks) that may be what much of this finish is composed of. That MAY be why it's available in Europe.

To the best of my knowledge there is no one in the USA who produced a metallic finish with that type of composition. However they may have a web site (not sure if it's English however) and there might be some information as to hard, resistive finishes for wood. I do NOT think this is inexpensive material however.

This is not the common aluminum "metal flake" paint that's very common in automotive finishes. This is single micron level particles that will produce that "chrome" look. i have a feeling that a clear coat of polyurethane is mandatory.
