Question Ashtray screw question

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm adding an ashtray to my Jaguar & wonder if anyone knows what size screws work best (they didn't come with the tray). Also, anyone ever put a neck pup cover on a jaguar? The interior routing cavity makes it look difficult to do if not impossible. Thanks!

Generally, the covers/ashtray screws are the same as the pickguard screws on Fenders and possibly others.

Oren; thanks for the tip. Hey, I see by your profile that we're both the same age and Ventures fans. I heartily recommend "The Ventures: Live in Japan '65" on EMI. The pictue of the Mosrites is worth the price if the CD alone.

Hey "orpheus55" - I haven't looked lately at my Ventures stuff CDs, but I'll check to see if I have that one. I have the following LPs (you're old enough to know what that means) that I've found in various ways over the last several years, some of which are super playable - Surfing, Fabulous Ventures, Very Best of The Ventures, Golden Greats, Where The Action Is, Go with The Ventures, Wild Things, Telestar, Walk Don't Run, Ventures A Go Go, Twist Party Vol.2, Hawaii Five-0, The 10th Anniversary Album, The Ventures Knock Me Out (cover shot includes head shots of a Mosrite bass in light blue and 2-6 strings, 1 in red and 1 sunburst) and finally, The Ventures Christmas Album (cover shot with Mosrite bass and 2-6 strings, all in red with natural headstock.) Several years ago there was an organized cruise with The Ventures entitled "Surfin To Baja", so my cousin, also a big Ventures fan, and I signed up for it, flew to LA and spent 5 days with The Ventures on this cruise. It included several concerts, question/answer sessions, meet and greet, meals and autograph sessions and jam sessions. A dream come true.

Oh well, I can talk about them for a long time, but I'll leave it at this. Great to meet an "older dude" who is also a Ventures fan.

BTW - every Fender that I buy, both P and Jazz, I put the covers and finger rest on. They just look so much better IMO with them.

I agree about the screws for the covers - same as pickguard screws. Just measure and mark carefully BEFORE drilling, and tape over the drill site to reduce chipping.

Also - if you guys like surf, check the YouTube channel for my surf band Vintage Winds (stands for "Old Farts"):
