Babicz bridge question......

Sign in to disble this ad
Pretty much decided on a black Babicz to drop into my Fender JP90. Some folks had previously mentioned problems with the mounting screws furnished with this bridge as being thinner and shorter than those removed from the original bridges. Any update on if Babicz furnishes better screws now, or what exactly have some of you done. If I remember right, using the old screws wasn't the best option.......Bud

I was under the impression that the screws that come with the Babicz bridge don't screw in flush and it is suggested to use the screws from the existing bridge instead. Hopefully this is something Babicz can correct soon.

I just bought a Babicz bridge for my Fender MIM Jazz Deluxe last night and put it on this morning. I opted to use the screws that came with it, and while being a little (and by little I mean very minimal) shorter they almost looked a little thicker. They screwed in very snugly. A tighter fit than the stock ones, and felt very stable when tightened down. They are also flat topped and sat flush with bridge base. Intonation was not a problem and was actually smooth and easy to accomplish. First impressions are good, but I will play around with it more when I get home tonight, after work. I think the problems others where having with intonation was when using the stock fender screws, because they are dome topped instead of flat. I feel the included screws fit better so using the stock ones is unnecessary.

Thanks guys! It's a done deal....ordered one last night. Looks super, and this JP90 is a fun mod lab rat. Changing out the pots to 250ks and using a .1 ceramic cap. I'm eyeing that weird pick guard too......and a thru the body jack would be nice......Roto Swing 66s too. Not sure about coating the cavity with foil or paint.....may not be necessary, I'll find out. The one thing I don't seem to be able to satisfy myself on is whether or not the pickups are 1st class or so-so junk. It WAS American made, but I don't know if maybe the JP90 was a cheap alternative to the basic P or Jazz basses offered in '90.....Thanks again guys......Bud B
