Bad Input Jack On My MTD 535?

I was playing my MTD 535 today and all of a sudden it started to pop. We have all done it, the sound of not having the cable in all of the way. One minute it would be fine, and the next minute it would not be. There are times where I get no output, just a hissing sound. My first guess would be the input jack. Speaking of the jack if that is the problem is this a regular jack with the end piece screwed on the end of it, or is this something special I have to get from Mike?

PLEASE HELP.

First thing to check is the battery. If that is not the problem then check wiring at the output jack.

The jack is a standard jack. It can be had from any number of suppliers.

Check the battery, definitely, and be sure to try different cables and even a different amp before you start taking the bass apart!

All is well with the bass. I bought a new input jack at Guitar Center for $3.00 and installed it. The good news is I now had a new input jack, the bad news is I still had the same problem. I just put new batteries in the bass last week, but knew I needed to check them. After taking them out of the bass I noticed that the positive clip from the battery connector was still on both batteries. A quick trip to Radio Shack, and everything is now perfect.
