a friend of mine has a mim fender p. sounds decent plugged in, but unplugged, the sound is not very audible, the string especially sounds more like an upright unplugged. it makes tunning by ear a little hard. my squier vm p sounds great unplugged though. why is it so low and quiet when played unplugged>?

It's either his action or strings.

It really doesn't matter though becuase those basses are meant to be plugged in when played. That's why their called "electric basses."

Pop the strings if you really need it to be louder.

another prove that squier VMs are better than fender MIMs<
IMO they are
but it could be the strings causing the low volume or the action
