Badass I vs. III

Sign in to disble this ad
Wondering about the screw hole distance comparison between a BadAss I and a III.

Got a bass that came with a III. Dunno why they picked that one but they did. Anyway, it comes with slotted saddles that don't fit the .110 E string I want to use, and I don't really feel like carving a new slot for it if I don't have to.

I would be happy getting a BadAss I to replace it, and sell this bridge to someone else, but I also don't want to drill new holes in the bass if I don't have to.

I guess I'm hoping there's a logical solution instead of a "gotta do lots of work to make this sound good" solution.

Leo Quan's website has been no help.

Anyone here know?

I think I just answered my own question.

I've been able to determine that the intended string spacing for the Badass I was 19mm. Makes sense, right?

Now, those screw holes are centered between the intonation adjustment screws - one between E and A, A and D, and finally D and G.

So THEY'VE got to be 19mm apart as well, right?

Just measured my Badass III to check the screwhole distance, and whaddya know - they're 19mm apart.

So it looks like I can swap out bridges and either save this one - pre-slotted - for another bass, or sell it.

Anyone here GASing for a Badass III?

The III will fit right on it with no drilling.
