Badass II: Messed Up Saddles

A guitar tech I used did not do a great job grooving the saddles on my BAII. In particular, the G string is significantly off center. Is it possible to buy replacement pre-grooved saddles for this thing, like those for the BAIII?

Does the G-string is off center at the saddle? Are your strings aligned with the polepieces and at even distances from each other?

If the tech did not do an acceptable job, don't waste your time trying to buy replacement saddle, he should repair his mistake free of charge. If he doesn't and the job is truly unacceptable, talk to his boss.

Howdy!

Off center how? Is is possible that he grooved the saddles to put the string in proper alignment with the pole pieces on the pickup(s)?

If it is messed up, there are replacement saddles all over the internet and the pre grooved saddles for the BA III will also work on a BA II if I am not mistaken.....

Have you called the tech and asked for an explanation etc.?

a BAII is pretty much a customizable bridge in that you "fit" it to a particular bass in reference to the pole pieces, neck and so on. Usually everything's centered but that's definitely NOT always the case. I would double check to see that it's not done that way for a reason. I've heard of people leaving them ungrooved so they can be switched to other basses if need be.
That said, if it was done in error, have him replace it or just shop eBay for replacement saddles. I've seen them pop up from time to time.

We talked. I was in a charitable mood, so I didn't pursue it further when he just sorta agreed with me, and then he exchanged the D-saddle with the G-saddle and said, "There, that's closer." I could have been more forceful about wanting him to replace it, but I let the matter drop. I would seem like a jerk if I came back at him now. He no longer works there are it's been a while.

So, next time I'll be more assertive.

Right. My G saddle is off-center, but the string doesn't fit between the pole pieces like it should.

I posted a similar problem with my G in relation to the pole pieces over in the Pickups & Electronics forum and the response was that it doesn't matter if the string splits the pole pieces dead even or not.

I'm sure that's true; however, I don't like the possibility of one or more strings exiting the saddle at less or greater than a zero-degree angle, or of one or more strings having greater or lesser spacing than the others. That's the only real issue in my mind.
