Badass II and Pole Pieces

Sign in to disble this ad
I just put a Badass II on my MIM Precision. I had to file the saddle grooves and when I restrung, I noticed that the G string is not dead-center between the pole pieces. It's more toward the inner pole piece. I played (at a low volume...can't wake the family) and it seemed to sound okay. I'm sure I need to really crank it to tell if there are any differences. What are the issues, if any, to a string not splitting the pole pieces dead-center?

Are the saddle grooves correct? Proper spacing & the G & E running properly down the neck?

Pickups/Electronics forum might get lots more replies.

In real life, you would probably never notice a volume difference if you didn't know it was slightly off center. But much like high end cables, knowing it's there could effect how you percieve it. The G string has far less travel than the E, so being dead center is less critical.

I measured carefully before I filed, and the strings look and feel to be properly spaced along the fretboard.
