Badass II Replacment Screws??

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,
to my horror, while my main bass was lying on the carpet waiting for a string change, my three year old thought it would be fun to surf on top of it. All of the height adjustment screws are now bent from her standing on the bridge. Is it possible to get replacements for these? I have already emailed Leo Quann and looked at bestbassgear and allparts and didn't see anything other than replacement saddles, but I only need the screws. Hoping that some folks at talk bass have some good insight. Thanks in advance!!

I talked with Allparts this morning and they said that they haven't gotten anything from Leo Quann in a while. I really am hoping to get this fixed without having to buy and install another bridge. Help me Obi Wan, you are my only hope.

Best of luck finding. Id think theres gotta be other bridges that use same size screws so is more a case of finding same size replacement from whatever mfg. Instead of being stuck haveing to try and get them from baddass. But have you tried contacting baddass directly yourself by phone or email if no phone number for them available?

Yes, Leo Quann has a website and I emailed them, but their wesite clearly states that the owner tries to answer all questions personally and please be patient. The website also is dated 2009 and talks about how they recently bounced back from problems from delivery and after talking with allparts today, its sounds like they are having problems again. I am bummed.

Pretty sure they're nothing more than set screws. If you can figure out the size, check out a hardware supplier like McMaster Carr.

  1. Take bridge (or guitar) to well stocked hardware store.
  2. Or, take height adjustment screw to above.
  3. Show to knowledgeable staff.
  4. Pay the man.

The key here is "well stocked." Large, long established hardware stores will have what you are looking for. Sometimes the large home center out on the four lane will, too. Failing that, any industrial supply should be able to provide the parts.

Thanks for the advice. I thought about that, but personally I have never seen anything like those little hex screws at OSH or places like that. It looks like I will have to try though.

McMaster Carr item # 92765A005, 4-40 x 3/16 allen head set screws. 8 bucks for a pack of 50. Just go to McMaster-carr and Punch the item number in the search field--

there you go.

they're just small SAE set screws, 4-40 (not metric). fender uses the same thread on their USA vintage strat saddles.

any guitar repair shop worth a damn should have a drawer full of them.
