BADASS II SUGGESTIONS

Sign in to disble this ad
Recently bought a new Baddass II bridge with grooved saddles to replace the cheapo bridge on a MIM Jazz deluxe. Any suggestions on installing it, tricks, etc. before I take the old one off? Thanks.

It's just five screws out, five screws in. It couldn't be simpler. Have fun.

There is a ground wire under the bridge, and it is simply clamped between the bridge plate and the body. Be careful that it doesn't migrate back into the body (you'll lose the string ground) or migrate too far out of the body (the volume of the wire could interfere with coupling between the body and bridge). Get the screws back in firmly but don't break them! Good luck!

So the grounding wire is just laying flush inbetween the bridge plate and the body ?

It just protrudes out through a hole under the bridge. There shouldn't be any insulation protruding out through the hole, and you can shove it back into the hole or tug it a little out of the hole so you have roughly the same amount showing when you put your bridge on as they had when they put the original bridge on. When you tighten down the bridge, the wire creates a little indentation in the finish so the plate can lie flat. You'll see what I mean when you take the old bridge off!

Setup the action and intonate the bass for sure!
