Question Badass pre-slotted bridge string spacing options (4-string model)

Sign in to disble this ad
This question is for anyone with a Badass pre-slotted bridge. This one:

It looks to me like the E&A saddles have 4 slots in them and the D&G saddles have 5. Typical Fender string spacing is 19mm/.75 inches. For the sake of argument I'm assuming the bridge in the picture is set up for that. Based on the picture, if you wanted narrower string spacing you'd only have one option: Move the E-string one slot to the right, leave the A-string alone, move the D-string one slot to the left, and move the G-string two slots to the left.

I'd appreciate it if someone who has this bridge could orient their strings in that fashion and then measure the string spacing at the saddles in millimeters and report back. Thanks.

you're over-thinkng it.

"typical" fender bridge spacing is too narrow for jazz bass pickups, which line up better with 20mm spacing.

just string it up, line the strings up between the magnets in the pickups, and go play,

The bass in question doesn't have pickups with individual pole-pieces so I don't have any 'lining up' issues to deal with.

I don't want 19 or 20 mm spacing, I want it narrower, hence the reason for me wanting to know how narrow the spacing can be made on the Badass bridge. My bass has a 5-hole bridge mount. If there are other bridges with adjustable string spacing that are drop-in replacements I'd consider those as well, but I'm not a fan of 3-hole mount bridges.

narrower than 19 even?

then on the off chance you can even find a badass without paying through the nose for it, just get the un-slotted version so you can notch it as you like.
