Badass V on SX ESSEX 5-string

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I'm modifying a 5-string SX Ursa bass and was wondering if a BadAss V will fit. The string spacing on the SX is like 16mm to 17mm and I read that the badass can be a bit too wide. Anyone with a similar bass and this bridge? I have a BadAss II in one of my other basses and is very good. Another option is the Schaller roller with adjustable string spacing. Any help will be more than appreciated.

Sure it will work. I put one on my ursa 5 string. The middle three saddles will be pretty easy. The B and G will be almost touching the height adjustment screw. That is kinda a cool thing about making your own grooves, you can put them where you want. Some of the screw holes will line up and some will not. I used the ones that lined up and then drilled new holes for the ones that did not.

OK thanks. I was worried that the B and G strings end being to close to the edge making it hard to play. Any pics that you can share?

If you scroll down a couple of posts you'll find one here. Sorry for the pic quality but you'll get the idea.

Thanks for the help. I got the badass V for $86 off eBay. They've gone up in price. If this SX sounds like my Squier VM Jazz bass with a Badass II then is a keeper.

Honestly, the sound wasn't changed an awfull lot but the feel was exponentially better. My stock bridge was so unstable that it was making grooves from sliding side to side.
