Question Bass Assembly for Beginners

Sign in to disble this ad
I have always wanted to build a bass out of Warmouth parts but have no experience assembling basses or guitars. Are there any websites or books that give good instructions for the basic assembly or would it be pretty self-explanitory? I would have the final set up done by a pro.

Go to the Stew Mac website. They sell a book about this very subject. I can't remember the name and I'm too lazy to look for it myself, but you'll find it if you want to.

visit the Luthier's forum here at TB, look in the sticky for new builders at the top of the page, and look within that for recommended books (there are a couple of good recommendations)

I have most of the books recommended, and can say that they were the foundation for my early assembly efforts ... that eventually lead into me making my basses from rough lumber instead of pre-made parts

I'd also recommend you search thru the Luthiers forum itself, as most everything you'd need to know about assembly work has been covered at one time or another. You could also drop me a PM if you get stuck on something and can't find an answer with a search

all the best on your new building adventure - it's an excellent and rewarding hobby!
