Bass Body Painter/Finisher Recommendations?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am trying to source a Jazz Body for a parts bass I am building. My first hope was to find a genuine Fender body, but I keep missing the good ones on eBay.

Second thought is to buy a body and have it finished to my specs. (Or buy a body from someone who does finishes) Not trying to do anything too fancy, I just want a 3-color sunburst in nitro-cellulose finish. I'm going for the classic JPJ style Jazz with a few upgraded parts.

Can anyone recommend a particularly good guitar finisher? I am willing to work with anyone anywhere, but even better would be someone local to me in the Chicago Illinois USA area.

The few links I've seen after searching these forums didn't seem to have great sunburst examples.

I am looking to create something that looks like this:

Wilkins guitars in L.A. They just did my Fender P in midnight wine.It is so sweet. chunger got it now for pickup install and then hopefully he will posting pictures ,he is a master photographer so I am hopeful . I just got a black pick guard and black screws for it, so it will be a GAS machine for sure. Wilkins guitars is the best, his client list is impressive to say the least.

Pat Wilkins is one of the best, for sure. My personal fave is Mike Dolan in Santa Rosa CA. I don't know who to suggest nearer to you.
