saw this myself recently, if it's the same raspberry sound. for me - had nothing to do with the instrument. the amp was plugged into an outlet that was also powering some stereo equipment and such. don't know - maybe it was capacitance conflict, but as soon as i plugged the amp into another outlet - complete normalcy, no raspberry effect.

Sounds more like an amp issue. It sounds like you are overdriving the amp. The thing that gives it away is that it doesn't happen when you are unplugged. Some notes on a bass tend to come off as stronger because of string thickness and length at that fret. So, they will give a louder signal to the amp when those notes are played.

Try this: Set all the EQ knobs and sliders to flat, especially the bass ones. Turn the gain (or volume) down to about 3 and the master volume to about 5. Play through the amp. Does it still fart out on certain notes? Really cranking up the lows on any amp will do this almost everytime. The bass may sound terrible in terms of tone, but this is a starting point to check if the amp is really messed up or not.

If all is well from this point, make small adjustments to EQ to get a good tone from your amp.

Also try: Lowering the pickups a bit. There are screws on the side of the pickups to crank down. Just turn them down a few turns...it makes a large difference!!! If they are too high, the magnetic field doesn't work correctly with the string.
