Bass producing noise

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm using Squier J-Bass Affinity series and i have Fender Rumble60 Amplifier.
I noticed that my bass produces strange noise while I am not touching it, but while I hold any metal piece on my bass, the noise stops.
Also while i am not touching any metal parts and i am slowly touching wires i hear clicking.

any idea what is it?

its just hum- when you touch it, you ground it out.

Look up shielding...and I've got no idea about the clicking.

Talking Bass producing noise

I know this probably won't help but some people describe my bass playing as just producing noise.

You should check the grounding on the electronics - maybe find a picture of what it is supposed to look like in the control cavity. The noise going away when you touch the metal parts is usually a sign of a grounding problem.

I'm not sure about split-coils, but I know on single coils (like my Jazz bass) it did it and was perfectly fine/normal.

Yeah this is usual. My J-bass was clicking too. After fully covering internal cavities with foil and remaking pickups (shielding them from the inside too) the noise still exists but only on some preamp/cable/knob combinations. Get some humbuckers or low impedance/active pickups, they're noise-immune as hell.

Today I went to store where I bought it and they said to bring bass to them....
Let's hope to the best.
