Bass setup in DC metro area

Does anyone know of a place where I can get a good bass setup done in the northern Virginia, metro DC area? I got a bass that really needs a setup and I am hoping to get a good referral from a TB'er as opposed to just bringing it down to Guitar Center.

Bass Setup Near DC

Check out Jive Sound, a fairly new shop in Alexandria, VA. Or there is Chuck Levin's in Wheaton, MD.

He's a bit of a drive if you are on the VA side, but John Thurston at Thurston Instrument Repair in Catonsville, MD is great. Chuck's might not be bad. They probably have a heavy wait. You might check the guy that operates out of Atomic Music in College Park. I've never had work done by him, but I'm sure he's fine for set-ups.

Danny is actually no longer at Atomic and is working out of his own place. Theres two guys in there doing setups currently though. For a basic setup depending on when you get there I've seen things go out within a couple hours. Sometimes a bit less. This is the beltsville store btw.

PM Talkbass member "Dr. Phunkypants". Jivesound I think also does good work.

Thanks for the update on Danny. And, you are correct, Atomic is in Beltsville. I moved out of MD right after Atomic moved, so I always think of them as being in CP.

Alan at Action music--he's a fantastic bass player and does really nice set-ups. He really knows bass and is a sweetheart of a guy as well.
