Bass Setup in Vancouver?

Sign in to disble this ad
Looking for recommendations for good place(s) to get a bass setup in Vancouver, BC. Just basic stuff (truss rod, check the frets, string height, etc.).

Thanks
Rob

You could try L&M. I brought my bass there for a setup once, but wasnt impressed. It could have been better. Mike Kinal, well regarded bass builder, lives here and I bet he'd do a great job. I almost brought my bass to him for an issue, but managed to fix it myself. Google him and give him an email and see if he's up to it. He's a nice guy too.

The thing with places like L&M or Tom.L.M. is that (in my opinion) they do a very "generic" setup which may or may not suit your playing style. We all know that the notion that "one setup fits all" is unrealistic. You need to find someone that will take time to understand your needs and perform the setup accordingly. With that in mind, a good luthier might be a better choice, and Mike (if he is still inclined to do setups) would be a good choice.

I do my own.

- You might also consider contacting Laurence Mollerup. He is a TB member (LM Bass).
