Best bass mod:truss rod access-opinions?

Sign in to disble this ad
What is the best/cleanest/easiest way to mod a a bolt on neck bass to have easier access to the truss rod? Taking off the pickguard and routing a 1/2" channel, notching out the pickguard/body, or other? Not worried about resale value.

(yes, I did a search).

Thanks.

Hey Ryan, I would say rout a channel in both the body and the pickguard. Is the truss rod adjustment a hex or fillips? I'm sure our mutual friend Dan can do it for you. If you need his number, let me know and I'll PM you.

i like the american standard fender setup, a little cutout notch that lets you fit a hex wrench in there without removing anything.

the best would be the Ernie Ball truss rod adjustment wheel IMO. I like AM Std Fender's also but you have to be careful, the angle could really cause you to mar the pickguard with the truss rod wrench

That sounds about right - It's crazy that the rout isn't standard on instruments that have the truss rod access located there... An extra few seconds on the CNC?

EBMM's got it right - newer Sadowsky's are similar (If I'm not mistaken)...
